The Medical Scientists’ Working Group is a subgroup of the SASHG, and is primarily focused on addressing and discussing the issues unique to trained medical scientists working in the South African diagnostic arena.
In 2021, this group formulated a recommendation document for the training of Medical Biological Scientists in Human Genetics. The document is intended to guide the training process with regards to the minimum, discipline-specific outcomes, rather than serve as a training programme, which must align with the National Curriculum (CMS 01 MBS) and is currently specifically tailored to each training unit.
